Let’s Play a Game

Newsletter #40

George talks…

We’ve hit a milestone.

Today exactly 365 days ago, we purchased the domain name www.BrownsbarnThoroughbreds.com.

Over the following 3 months we sweated, fought, and cried over how to build not just a website or syndicate but a brand that would stand out from the crowded syndication marketplace.

The last 12 months has flown. We are nowhere near where we want to be.

Yet I took a little time this evening to look back.

To see what we have built considering a pandemic, scaled back hospitality, sporting events and the understandable general fear of society to be out and about in crowds over the last 20-24 months.

Here are some of the numbers:

3 BBT horses

2 countries

3 trainers

57 individual syndicate owners

From 6 different countries

11 syndicate events

2077 followers across social media

Lastly, 408 of you, loyal newsletter subscribers.

This is our 40th published newsletter.

Subscribing means a lot to the three of us. It’s not just a fleeting like on Instagram or retweet on Twitter. You went through a little more effort in subscribing to our newsletter.

87% of you guys on average open our emails. Several of you provide feedback regularly.

There is only one currency in racing.

Winners.

We have hardly thrown any darts at the board in our first year.

This year our team of trainers and horses gives me confidence we can deliver “the cherry on top” experience of winning to our owners.

This optimism was solidified after Sioux Nation’s first runner hosed up in the first 2-year-old race ran in Ireland at the Curragh on Sunday. Kevin Philippart De Foy, our filly’s trainer, isn’t doing half bad either, operating off a healthy 24% strike rate for 2022 with most of his yard still under wraps.

Holy Roman Emperor is a dependable source of classy, tough racehorses. Our filly is a little backward, no surprise here as her pedigree and physical suggested that. Her half-brother, Rene Artois didn’t run until September of his 2-year-old career and ran 5 solid races in defeat finishing the season with a rating of 82. I spoke to his breeze up consignor Tony O’Callaghan of Tally-Ho Stud who said anything he does at 2 will be a bonus, “expect a much better 3-year-old”. George Boughey needs no introduction, the breakout training star of last year we are delighted to have a 2 year old headed to Saffron House Stables.

We are powering into the 2022 flat racing season with excitement and we wanted to offer something to subscribers to mark our one-year milestone.

Something fun and foolish.

An April’s Fools Promotion was thrown out at the weekly BBT brainstorming session and we have decided to run with it.

Here’s how it will work….

Instead of us telling you the share price, we have decided to put the ball in your court.

Similar to a bloodstock auction, we are accepting bids from you on our syndicate shares.

From 1 – 20%, you tell us what your bid will be. We will reply as to whether we can accept the offer or not.

If your bid is declined, we will indicate what it will take to get a deal across the line.

All foolish offers are considered but may not be successful!!

We will run the promotion from 10am until 10pm Friday April 1st.

We will send out an email to start off and conclude the “auction”.

Simply email us within the timeframe above, tell us what you are willing to bid, someone from our team will reply promptly.

This promotion extends to the initial share acquisition only, the monthly fee remains the same.

Perfect for owners who have equity holding in any of our horses and are thinking of increasing it further.

Ideal for subscribers who aren’t involved yet, to take a chance and bid, to see if they are successful.

This promotion is for subscribers to our newsletter only.

If you know anybody who would be interested in our promotion send them the link below to subscribe.
