George talks…
I did say I would be back to you guys in a flash.
This is a big week for George Boughey.
We have quite the attachment to the yard, Thomas of course is assistant at Saffron House Stables.
George was our first UK based trainer and as you are probably aware by now, he takes charge of our Holy Roman Emperor filly this year.
His story is one of smashing milestone after milestone.
He finished second with his first Classic runner Mystery Angel last year. He tasted group success with Oscula and he has only had his license for 4 years (3 full years).
He started with just 4 horses back then.
We spoke at the weekend of Cachet winning her Guineas trial.
The antepost favourite for the 1000 Guineas, Inspiral is now out of the race.
This year’s renewal is wide open.
Cachet is 14/1 for the race but we believe her chance is much shorter. Just this week James Doyle has been booked for the ride and connections are bullish.
Don’t take our word for it, read what George himself says about her chances here.
Here’s a snippet.
“I think she was a bit of a weak finisher at the end of her two year old career. She had them all off the bridle in the Fillies' Mile and got outstayed then didn't quite hit the line in the Breeders' Cup.
“I don't think she has grown much but she has done well physically. She is stronger and much more the finished article now. I think there are lots of good days ahead of her.”
We are taking a leaf out of the enigmatic Jim McIngvale playbook. The larger than life American owner of the Breeders Cup winning, now stallion, Runhappy.
Jim famously bets on his horses, NFL and Baseball while running a promotion in his Texan furniture store.
So consequently, we are going to have a bet.
A win stake of 500€ on Cachet for the 1000 Guineas.
This will be used as a hedge.
Anybody who buys a share in our Holy Roman Emperor filly between now and before the gates open for the Guineas will get a full refund of their share acquisition if Cachet wins.
If Cachet pulls off the win.
You will own a share in a filly with a Classic winning trainer for free.
Yes, officially the odds are 14/1 but considering Mystery Angel was 50/1 in the Oaks for George and finished 2nd its fair to say Boughey’s outrun their odds when he has a target in mind.
What about our Holy Roman Emperor filly?
She is a backward type, from a high class family and similarly to Cachet, out of a Teofilo mare.
To take on our bet.
Simply purchase a share between now and 3.40pm this Sunday 1st of May.
Check out detailed info on her and purchase shares here.
If (When!!) Cachet wins, we will refund all new owners Sunday night.
Best of luck to George Boughey and all the team at Saffron House Stables this weekend!
Cheers,
George
