Aye for the Ayr Gold Cup

If you cannot take ups and downs horse racing is certainly not the sport for you.
We had a rollercoaster journey with our horses in the past few days. Medal of Glory our 2 year old filly, ran an encouraging first race at Navan. She was bouncing at home and we were all very hopeful coming into Naas this Thursday that she would go close.
It wasn’t to be for our filly and she finished weary after running with the choke out for the first three furlongs.
She has bounced out well after the race, is fit and healthy. We will make plans for our filly during our syndicate race review Zoom call.
Today we fly out to Newmarket for the Tattersall’s Ireland September Yearling sale. A two day sale with an accompanying sales race worth E300,000. We have sourced our first yearling for our 2 year old roster and we hope to secure our second in horse racing HQ next week.
New Horse…Coming Soon
We gave a brief background last week to the first addition to our yearlings of 2021. The yearlings will enter our program to run in 2022 as part of our 2 year old roster.
Take a sneak peak at our Sioux Nation filly exercising below. She is getting the ground work done before entering the breaking process.
We will be releasing details around plans for this filly including where she will be trained and how you can claim a share in her in the coming days.
Charlie talks…Weekend Racing
Scotland takes centre stage on Saturday as Ayr hosts the last day of it’s famous Gold cup meeting.
The card opens with a 1 mile nursery at 1.20pm and I fancy The Dunkirk Lads to be hard to beat here after his rousing effort at Chester recently. The extra distance here should suit and he could be hard to beat.
The Ayr Silver Cup looks tricky as expected and two I like each way are Lord Rapscallion and Soldiers Minute. There are plenty of unexposed 3 yr olds in here however it often tends to follow a battle hardened horse in these races as they can be quite intimidating for lesser experienced runners.
Soldiers Minute has been in poor form however. He is 6lbs lower now than when he ran in the Gold cup here at Ayr last year and connections will have had this race in mind for a while. Lord Rapscallion also has plenty of experience in these type of events and is another who appeals as ahead of his mark at present.
There's group action at 3.05pm and anyone who backed Scots Grace at Kempton the last day will be willing to forgive her that effort after she got badly hampered. This race doesn't look much more competitive and this daughter of Mehmas can go close with better luck this time
The main contest the Ayr gold cup looks as tough a puzzle as ever to solve. However I've had my eye on Volatile Analyst for a while with Ayr in mind. He appeals as a horse who could be better than a handicapper and has had his mark protected with this in mind. Have to forgive a poor recent run but at the likely big odds I think he might represent good each way value.
Horses to follow:
The Dunkirk Lads 1.20 - Ayr - Saturday
Soldiers Minute 2.30 - Ayr - Saturday
Volatile Analyst 3.40 - Ayr - Saturday
