Cheltenham Preview Night 2025

The Brownsbarn Letter

I hardly ever follow or watch tennis, but I’m glued to Wimbledon.

I hardly ever follow or watch golf, but I become consumed by the Masters every year.

I hardly ever follow or watch darts, but once Christmas comes round, I can give you the averages of both the PDC Darts finalists.

The Cheltenham Festival is National Hunt racing’s flagship meeting. It’s the one. This is the week where everyone else watches, enjoys and talks about our sport.

And today, it’s only two weeks away.

Contrary to what people preach during the height of winter, NH racing is all about Cheltenham. Always has and always will be.

As with all major sporting events the media circus during the build up is as entertaining as the event itself.

Constitution Hill had a “frightening” gallop today, which race will Brighterdaysahead run in, who has got what for the handicaps?

All questions that people want to know answers to, and racing fans want to know everyone’s opinion on these questions.

So (I believe) this is the reason we have the Cheltenham Preview Night phenomenon.

Trainers, jockeys, pundits, presenters, owners, bookmakers and of course the racing fans congregate in event rooms all over the UK and Ireland to talk all things Cheltenham. Many of whom enjoy a few pre-event (And Post) refreshments that leads to looser lips than when in front of the TV camera polished up and semi scripted.

This has led to lots of inside insight that one would not read on the racing pages of our media.

One tip that springs to mind was from the preview night maestro, Jamie Codd. Labaik, the supreme novice winner, at I think 66/1. There is video evidence of how bullish he was on his chance.

A mad circus in its own right, and one which we love being apart of!

This year is no different.

We are back to The Claddagh Ring pub for 2025 with the Brownsbarn Thoroughbreds, Cheltenham Preview Night.

An evening of talking all things horses, all things Cheltenham.

We have the return of Mark Johnson as MC, the astute racing commentator. Recently retired jockey, Daryl Jacob joins us on the top table with a wealth of knowledge on many of the form lines that will cross swords at the meeting.

Multiple times Cheltenham Festival winning trainer, Alan King knows what it takes to win at the festival, he will join our panel with a fantastic depth of knowledge.

The very popular Brownsbarn Thoroughbreds trainer, James Owen, trainer of Cheltenham hopeful Burdett Road will be there to answer the burning question of which race this really likeable horse will line up in. James also has the outstanding juvenile hurdler, East India Dock for the Triumph. This horse has a favourites chance of giving James his first Cheltenham winner.

Sean Boyce completes the line up, the Sky Sports presenter speaks to more trainers and jockeys in one year than most so will for sure be on the front end of many fancies for the week.

Proceedings will kick off at 7.30 pm and we won’t head for home until everyone has at least a few tips in the notes app on their phone!

Charlie and Thomas will be there for the night to talk all things Brownsbarn Thoroughbreds, this is a great opportunity to come meet the team and discuss our horses.

As always, all ticket sales will go towards the injured jockeys fund, check out the poster above for the details on how to purchase your ticket for the night.

Enjoy the night and let’s hope we all nab a few winners for the greatest meeting of them all.
