Jumps Season in Full Flow
Newsletter #27
Syndicate News
Medal of Glory had her third race yesterday at Dundalk, all went according to plan. We expected her to need the run as she was coming back after being out of full training over the past few weeks with a cut on her leg.
We were delighted to see her enjoy the race and expect her to come on plenty for the run as she would of been a little ring rusty after her time off.
She will now receive a handicap mark also which will open up more opportunities for us to find a suitable race for her to get her head in front over the Dundalk winter season.
Yearlings of 2021
Both our yearling fillies with Clare are progressing through the breaking process. Both are now backed and riding away. From here the education continues, they will be hitting the gallop together next week.
Interesting to see the half brother of our Holy Roman Emperor filly Rene Artois finish a strong third in a maiden at Leopardstown last weekend.
Shares are available in both fillies via our website.
Breeders Cup Party
We are delighted to announce we will be hosting our first social event in London next weekend for the Breeder’s Cup Championships at Del Mar, USA. We hope some of you can come and join us for a night of top class racing and entertainment. Full details below.
Charlie talks…Weekend Racing
Aside from a few listed races at Newmarket today this weekend is clearly all about the jumps with Grade 1 action coming from Down Royal and plenty of other graded action spread across Ascot and Wetherby.
It is normally a difficult time of year to access jumps form as so many horses will have a long season planned ahead so I tend to focus on particular yards that seem to have their horses in good order.
With that in mind I’m going to focus on some of Gary Moore’s runners today as he has started the jumps season in great form and looks to have plenty of solid chances.
Starting with Nassalam in the 1.35pm at Ascot who makes his chasing debut but is armed with a 10lbs weight for age pull against the other runners in the field. Should be very hard to beat if jumping around here. He had a progressive campaign last year and once he takes to jumping fences, I’d be confident of him going close here.
Larry looks to be on an interesting mark for the London Gold Cup handicap chase. He had an unfortunate unseat on his seasonal reappearance however that run would have brought him on. His last win was at Sandown in 2019 from a very tempting mark of 131 a full 8lbs lower than his last winning mark.
Shallwehaveonemore makes his hurdles debut in the 3.55pm at Ascot and carries a big stable reputation after his impressive bumper win. He looks an exciting prospect for the year and hopefully can make the perfect start here to his career over hurdles.
As for the Grade 1 Ladbrokes chase at Down Royal it’s really difficult to know who is going to be fully fit for today. Most of these horses will have big targets over the coming months. However Minella Indo should be very hard to beat if anywhere near his best. But he will have to be close to top fitness as the opposition are all young progressive chasers who will push him all the way. A race to watch and enjoy for me really.
Horses to follow:
Larry 3.20 - Ascot - Saturday
Shallwehaveonemore 3.55 - Ascot - Saturday
Nassalam 1.35 - Ascot - Saturday
