George talks…BBT Digest

Here are some interesting pieces we have come across this week.

What I have been Watching this week.

Although a little dated now this was a documentary that was broadcast on Irish TV. Hector the host is energetic and Irish mad! The program gives a great taste into racehorse ownership.

Horse racing dead?

A peak into the betting pools across in the US. The numbers tell the story here.

How good was Montjeu?

A second time that we have mentioned this podcast. The project is onto it’s second series. As I’m more of a flat racing fan I loved this chat with John Hammond trainer on Montjeu. Soem real gems parleyed here including a bizarre story about getting the quirky horse into the parade ring before his biggest race.

Listen to the podcast here.

Check out Montjeu’s impressive King George win here. It’s ridiculous what he did to Fantastic Light.

Medal of Glory

Medal of Glory enjoyed 10 days on the easy list over the past couple of weeks.

Her owners enjoyed an update on how she progressed over that period.

We give our horses time to come to hand and the evidence can be seen below.

Top picture is before her break, compared to her in the bottom picture, a stronger filly.

Charlie talks…Weekend Racing

Slight dip in quality this weekend with The Shegar Cup at Ascot the highlight. Not an event I find particularly engaging nonetheless it presents some interesting opportunities for certain horses.

4 Teams, 12 Horses, 6 Races make up the Shergar Cup

In the 2.35 7 furlong handicap Lord Rapscallion looks on a good mark and as long as ground conditions remain on the good side he should go close in this contest which is less competitive than his most recent starts.

The main angle to focus on might be the developing jockey championship battle as Oisin Murphy and William Buick are both going for this gung ho at the moment. Neptune Legend in the 3.25 at Newmarket looks a standout chance for Oisin.
