Medal of Glory unfortunately had to miss her engagement at Bellewstown this week as she sustained a nasty cut while relaxing in her paddock. Luckily, it is only a short term hold up with her cuts being superficial. While she is resting and recovering for the next 10 days, we will regroup and plan a backend campaign for her.

Another week, another new trainer for 2022

We are delighted to announce that Kevin Philippart De Foy has joined our roster of trainers for 2022. Our Sioux Nation filly x Supreme Quest will be handled by Kevin and his team at Machell Place stables in Newmarket for her training career.

Kevin has made a big impression so far in his short training career, (only starting in November 2020). His handling and placing of his 2 year olds in particular caught our eye. This filly, like our other purchase, will head to Clare Manning’s Boherguy Stud now for pre-training and on to Newmarket early next year.

Details on shares in this filly will be made available over the weekend.

Charlie talks…Weekend Racing

The rain may be falling at Longchamp ahead of this Sundays Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe however there is still no chance of it damping what is a red hot looking race.

Where do you start when looking through this race? Its chock full of quality as it should be. The Classic generation are headed by Derby winner Adayar and Oaks winner Snowfall. Chrono Genesis flies the flag for Japan and Hurricane Lane looks another solid contender for Godolphin. However Tarnawa is where my money is going in the hope that this Shamardal filly might just prove to be a bit special. She oozed class last year with her defeat of Magical at the Breeders Cup sticking out for me. Her prep has been perfect to my eye and while connections might of been aggrieved not to of won the Irish Champion Stakes on her most recent start I’m sure they were delighted as the run would of left her spot on for this.

Its not just about the Arc on Sunday though as Longchamp hosts 5 other top class Group 1 races. The opening Prix Marcel Boussac Acer Alley caught my eye as a highly progressive daughter of Siyouni. She won very impressively recently and ground conditions will hold no fears for her. Ancient Rome looks a leading contender in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere and will be very tough to beat of the others the German trained Rocchigiani might be an interesting alternative.

Audarya looks to go two places better than last year in the Prix de l’opera after finishing third behind Tarnawa. If bringing her A game she will be tough to beat as it looks a weaker renewal than last year. Next up the sprinters take centre stage in the Prix de l’Abbaye and Suesa will be very difficult to beat here if returning to her peak form. The Prix de la Foret brings the group action to a close and Pearls Galore brings a hugely progressive profile into this race and the softening conditions will help bring her stamina into play. Odds of 10/1 look very generous on her at present.
